This interdisciplinary degree blends advanced doctoral study in history and anthropology, with a focus on the American West. Degree Prep To prepare to earn a PhD in historical archaeology it is recommended to have:
  • Undergraduate History major or another humanities or social science major

Scholarships

The History Department has eight scholarships available annually, including the Stillinger and Winkler scholarships. These add up to a total of $85,000 given to qualified students in both the graduate and undergraduate programs. In the past year about 50 students have received this recognition.
