Advising Guides

This page contains the updated Advising Guides for students planning to transfer from North Idaho College (NIC) to the University of Idaho Coeur d’Alene. If you’re transferring to UI from an institution(s) other than NIC, you can meet with an advisor to discuss how your previously earned college credits might apply to a particular major or program.

The Registrar’s Office at the University of Idaho provides an official evaluation of your transfer credit after you are accepted for admission to UI. Read more info on transfer credit evaluation.

Students who have earned an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree from a regionally accredited institution will enter the University of Idaho with their general education requirements satisfied. Students who do not earn an associate’s degree must satisfy the State Board of Education core requirements.

The advising guides below are for students who plan to complete an Associate of Science in General Studies from NIC* and wish to use those classes toward a particular bachelor’s degree at UI.

Some students may choose to pursue an associate’s degree in a particular area of study (e.g., education, psychology, pre-nutrition). Please consult with an NIC or UI advisor to discuss how your coursework might vary depending on the type of degree you plan to complete.

* The Advising Guide for the B.A. English Literature degree includes the requirements for an A.S. degree in English at NIC rather than General Studies.
