Idaho Water Center
When the Idaho Water Center building emergency alarms go off you must evacuate the building. U of I faculty, staff, students and guests are required to meet at the designated evacuation point — WinCo store parking lot on the corner of Front Street and Avenue A.
If you are unsure of your evacuation route, check with your monitor. If you don't know who your monitor is, contact U of I Boise Operations at uibops@uidaho.edu.
Your VandalCard is your official U of I identification card. If you have assigned work space in the IWC or are a law student, you will need a VandalCard for appropriate building access. Submit a VandalCard request through the OIT portal. Please make sure you follow the photo requirements listed on this page before proceeding on to the “Request a VandalCard” form.
If you are an employee or student with an assigned work area, you will be contacted during the card creation process by a member of the U of I Boise Operations team to confirm what building access you should be granted. Please be prepared with contact information for your supervisor or academic advisor to approve your building access.
If the building has to go into lockdown, all IWC suites, classrooms, etc. will be locked. If you have a VandalCard that grants you access, you can use the card to get back into your work area and all shared rooms. In a lockdown situation the rule is run and get out of the building (if it’s safe to do so), hide or fight. Watch the reference video. Read the Active Shooter Event Quick Reference Guide.
Section 18-3309 of the Idaho Code permits qualified retired law enforcement officers and individuals who have obtained an Idaho enhanced concealed weapon license to possess a concealed firearm on public college and university property, with the exception of carrying within student dormitories or residence halls and at public entertainment/sporting facilities with a seating capacity greater than 1,000.
