Course Set-Up

Placement in Math 108 and 143 is based on students ACT, SAT, or COMPASS test scores.

Hybrid Courses

Unlike high school math courses - Polya Math Learning Center allows students to learn at a pace and in the style that works for them.

There are two weekly participation requriements:

• A one-hour Focus Group
• Two and a half hours in the Polya Center

Additional coursework is completed individually and is available anywhere there is internet access.

Focus Groups

During the weekly Focus Group, the leader provides students guidance on how to be successful in the coming week:

• study strategies
• important announcements
• explanations of current course material

Polya Mathematics Learning Center

During the required time in the lab the student will complete assignments online using MyMathLab. The lab is staffed by trained undergraduates, graduates, and faculty over 80 hours each week.

As the semester progresses and students show success in mastery of the material, their time requirements decrease.
