University of Idaho Professor Appointed as a Visiting Professor in Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.

Larry J. Forney, director of the Institute for Bioinformatics and Evolutionary Studies and professor in the department of biological sciences at the University of Idaho, was recently appointed as a visiting professor in the Department of Histology and Embryology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. In addition he was appointed to the Academic Committee of Shanghai Key Laboratory for Reproductive Medicine.

Through his ongoing collaborative research with the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine on the microbiology of the human reproductive tract, Dr. Forney was invited to be a keynote speaker at the International Conference on Male Reproductive Health in April 2012. His appointments were formally recognized during the conference held in Shanghai, China.

The Institute for Bioinformatics and Evolutionary Studies (IBEST) is an interdisciplinary research group at the University of Idaho focused on understanding the patterns and processes of evolution that occur over comparatively short periods of time. The hallmarks of IBEST research are the coupling of empirical and theoretical research, and a strong orientation toward rigorous testing of hypotheses.
