The Teaching Excellence Awards were established in 1990 to encourage and reward teachers for excellence and are a tangible way to show the value superb teachers hold for our university. Teaching Excellence Awards encourage faculty to become a better teacher or adviser providing incentives to inspire innovative teaching methods and promote strong dedication to student needs and aid in implementing the strategic plan, particularly in recruiting and retaining students. The Advising Excellence was established in 2003 and the Hoffman Award in Teaching was established in 2007.
The Teaching Excellence Award is available to teaching faculty and includes one $5,000 award and up to two $2,500 awards.
The Hoffman Award in Teaching Excellence is designated for full-time, non-tenured, tenure track faculty at the rank of assistant professor with an award of $1,500.
The Excellence in Academic Advising recognizes an outstanding undergraduate faculty adviser and/or a professional staff adviser and provides an award of $2,000.
Recipients may only receive an award once. To see the list of past recipients before nominating, please visit the provost and executive vice president’s website:
