Natural Resources Scientists Pilot Data Management Approaches for U.S. Department of Interior
Thursday, December 8 2011
Professor Steven Daley-Laursen and Greg Gollberg, program manager of the Fire Research and Management Exchange System, received a $400,000 grant from the U.S. Geological Survey to implement a pilot data management and cyber-infrastructure framework for the U.S. Department of Interior’s national networks of eight Regional Climate Science Centers and 23 Landscape Conservation Cooperatives. As University of Idaho principle investigator and data management leader of the $4 million Northwest Regional Climate Science Center, Daley-Laursen and Gollberg will develop the framework based on the “Northwest Knowledge Network,” the U-Idaho-based data management initiative that includes data management research, data management services for interdisciplinary research projects, and a regional data sharing cooperative. The Northwest Climate Science Center is a cooperative venture of the University of Idaho, Oregon State University, the University of Washington and the U.S. Geological Survey.
