CRC Co-Director Professor Lil Alessa appointed to the US Defense Science Board

University of Idaho and College of Art & Architecture President’s Professor Lil Alessa has been appointed to the prestigious United States Defense Science Board. The Defense Science Board serves the nation by providing independent advice and recommendations on matters supporting the Department of Defense’s scientific and technical enterprise. Professor Alessa joins a cadre of former senior military officers, senior government officials, industry representatives, and national academia leaders, who are deemed best equipped to tackle the Department’s pressing and complex challenges. Recent work of the Defense Science Board includes secure electronic processing and commercial space system integrity. Alessa’s appointment bolsters the Defense Science Board’s latest task force on climate change and global security – an acknowledgment of Professor Alessa’s national recognition in these fields. As Co-Director of the UI Center for Resilient Communities Alessa leads the center’s priority area in national security. Lil’s appointment to the Defense Science Board highlights the important role of the College of Art & Architecture as a generator of high-impact research and the University of Idaho’s significant impact on issues of national concern.
