Dr. Akira Tokuhiro talking with a student

Akira Tokuhiro

Akira Tokuhiro, professor of mechanical and nuclear engineering for the University of Idaho, was born in Tokyo, Japan, but now works in the Center for Advanced Energy Studies in Idaho Falls. Akira has more than 20 years of experience in nuclear engineering and has been closely monitoring the situation in Japan following that country’s devastating earthquake and tsunami.

Tokuhiro is using his experience and knowledge about nuclear energy to help others understand what is happening at Japan’s Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant and how it could affect Idaho.

Below is some of the news coverage featuring Dr. Tokuhiro’s comments.
