Leadership in Engineering

Become a leader in your career with the skills in project management, leadership, accounting, statistics and more you need to move from practicing engineer to a management position. This program teaches you the analytical, technical and human resource aspects of management, and you may elect to conduct a master’s project on a topic relevant to your career or organization.

Degree Prep All applicants to the master's program in Engineering Management must have all of the following:
  • B.S. in Engineering from a ABET/EAC accredited program
  • at least two years of engineering work experience beyond B.S. degree (or be currently employed as an engineer)
  • three letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a current or former employer
Degree Roadmap The Engineering Management degree requires 30 credits; a minimum of 15 credits must be engineering courses. For the latest information on all available Engineering Management courses, view our Course Catalog.

All courses required for the program are available for distance learners through University of Idaho's Engineering Outreach Program. Some classes are offered by resident and affiliate faculty at convenient locations in Idaho Falls, Boise, and Moscow.
Scholarships The College of Engineering provides annual scholarship awards totaling approximately $820,000. For information on specific scholarships, feel free to meet with a a representative from the College of Engineering's Student Services team.

Hands-On Learning Undergraduate hands-on learning and research opportunities in the laboratory, field, and classroom are plentiful. U-Idaho’s engineering senior capstone design program is ranked one of the best in the nation by the National Academy of Engineers. Students get opportunities to solve real-world engineering problems sponsored by industry partners, as well as to showcase their work in the annual Engineering Design EXPO.
