The primary work activity will be traveling by truck to numerous sampling locations (wetlands) located in central Florida; locating single, pairs, and flocks of mottled ducks, mallards, and hybrid waterfowl; and taking high-resolution images of the birds encountered.

NRCS provides financial assistance for many conservation activities as directed by the Farm Bill. The successful candidates will work directly with the District Conservationist to implement Conservation Plans on the ground. Time will be spent in the field identifying resource concerns, developing contract paperwork and the Conservation Plan, working with GIS to develop maps, marking out project boundaries, and certifying the work when the project has been completed.

The Brad Rowse Policy Fellow internship program provides successful candidates with the opportunity to learn the importance of the public policy process on hunting, fishing and other conservation issues. CSF works directly with elected officials at the state, federal, and gubernatorial levels and serves as a network of pro-sportsmen elected officials that protects and advances the interests of America's hunters and anglers. Intern duties include: tracking state and federal legislation that impacts hunting, fishing, and other conservation activities and issues; writing and assisting with the preparation of CSF’s email newsletters, assisting with various CSF events; and, researching policy issues and writing position papers. Additional responsibilities will depend upon the ability and interest of each intern and the needs of the organization. This position works with the FHP staff responsible for the aerial detection survey program and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and conducting the annual FHP aerial detection survey for the Region. They also provide support to the professional entomology and plant pathology staff of the Missoula Field Office. FHP is responsible for the detection, survey, evaluation, prevention and suppression of forest pests. Both field and laboratory technical duties are part of this position, as well as a number of administrative responsibilities. GIS and technology skills are required for this position. This position requires flying in a small aircraft over mountainous terrain. The Intern should not be susceptible to motion sickness and should not be color-blind. Read more
