Overnight Parking During Winter Conditions

In order to park on campus in commuter parking lots (Gold, Red, and Blue) between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. a Gold, Overnight, or Early Morning permit is required year-round.

During snowy conditions, parking between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. is restricted to specific parking spaces in specified parking lots only, as shown on the Winter Overnight Parking Map. Requiring vehicles to park in specific spaces in the early morning allows snow removal crews to access the lots early and clear the spaces without having vehicles obstructing the route.

Vehicles are major obstacles when it comes to parking lot snow removal; one vehicle parked outside of the specified spaces significantly increases the amount of time it takes to plow that parking lot.

Citations may be issued to vehicles parked outside of the designated overnight parking areas and vehicles may be towed at owner's expense as snow conditions warrant (even vehicles displaying a valid Overnight parking permit). The overnight parking policy during snowy conditions is also described in the University of Idaho Parking Regulations, Section F.1. Overnight Parking During Snowy Conditions.
