President Staben, Dr. Mary Beth Staben and Mayor Lambert Join the Moscow Race for Action
Friday, April 11
UI President Chuck Staben and Moscow Mayor Bill Lambert are sponsoring teams for the upcoming Moscow Race for Action, a foot/bike race similar to TV's Amazing Race designed to raise money for local non-profit organizations. Dr. Mary Beth Staben and Lambert will also compete as a team for this action packed event scheduled for Saturday, April 26 at 1 p.m.
The race will follow the CommUNITY Walk and BBQ in East City Park. Racers competing in teams of two will leave from the park and travel to a series of sites sponsored by non-profit organizations. At each site teams will complete an activity taking roughly 20 minutes and benefiting that non-profit. The first three teams to complete six activities and return to East City Park will win the race and get to choose a participating non-profit to receive a percentage of the money raised.
This is a great opportunity to bring Moscow together through community service while raising money for the organizations that help make Moscow the amazing place that it is. Sponsor a team and race for action!
The Registrar’s Office, Environmental Science & Water Resources Program, Office of Community Partnerships, and Sustainability Center are all sponsoring teams. Please join the efforts to maximize the impact of this new event. Please consider rallying your office to sponsor a team or spread the word about this great opportunity!
Participating non-profits are:
Latah Trail Foundation
Palouse Clearwater Environmental Institute
Palouse Ice Rink
Palouse Land Trust
Palouse Prairie School
Palouse Sustainable Environment Council
Prichard Art Gallery
Soil Stewards Student Farm
