Thursday, March 24 2011

Anne Davidson, spatial ecologist for the National Gap Analysis Program at the University of Idaho, attended the annual Multi-Resolution Land Characteristics (MRLC) Consortium meeting, March 9-10 in Denver, Colo.

The Consortium was founded in 1992 to share land cover mapping expertise and spread the high costs of obtaining and processing the required satellite images. The National Gap Analysis Program is a long-time member of the consortium.

The highlights of this year’s meeting included an announcement of the National Land Cover Dataset (NLCD) 2006, discussion of the launch schedule for the Landsat 8 satellite, a review of consortium partner research and future land cover mapping plans.
