Mechanical Engineering Doctoral Student Presents Paper, Demos Robot

Hossein Taheri, a mechanical engineering doctorl student, recently presented a paper at the 34th International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society. The paper describes the design and initial testing of FINGER (Finger Individuating Grasp Exercise Robot). The development of FINGER is being led by Eric Wolbrecht in the mechanical engineering department as part of a National Institutes of Health sponsored projected. The project is in collaboration with researchers at the University of California, Irvine. FINGER was also one of nine demonstrated projects at the conference, based on a competitive abstract review process.
