The College of Art and Architecture's SpeakerSeries welcomes The Lopez Island Community Land Trust for a special presentation on Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. in TLC 040.

The Lopez Island Community Land Trust is a truly innovative group creating the future of sustainable living. Through a holistic approach the trust provides affordable housing that is environmentally and socially responsible, fosters sustainable agriculture and forestry, and cottage industries, and protects, preserves and enhances the land's natural attributes.

The Lopez Island Community Land Trust is garnering national and international attention as their most recent housing project is the first in the country to be zero-net-energy. Such forward-thinking design has received a number of awards including an AIA (American Institute of Architects) award.

This is an important lecture that will explore the interconnectedness of sustainability projects through holistic design thinking and an interdisciplinary problem-solving approach.
