Integrated Research Innovation Center - Building Design Presentation
Friday, October 4 2013
The university community is invited to a design presentation for the Integrated Research Innovation Center (IRIC) building, Wednesday, Oct. 16, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. in the Commons Clearwater Room. Architects and designers will be on campus for a two-hour session where they will present the current building design, walk through its feature and functions, and then open the floor to questions and comments. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend, learn about the building and provide input to the architects and the building committee.
Status of the project: University representatives have been working with NBBJ Architecture and Hoffman Construction, the general contractor, to designing and plan for the IRIC building, which will break ground next summer. The schematic design phase -- where general building design is explored -- was completed in August. We are now half-way through the design development phase. The presentation Oct. 16 will be at the 50 percent milestone, meaning that the design is being honed, and will be finalized by mid-December. After that, the construction drawings will be completed and then the construction begins.
