Idaho Beef Council Announces New Beef Coordinator

Friday, May 14 2010

Recently the Idaho Beef Council made the commitment to fund a half-time coordinator of our Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) program. The Animal and Veterinary Science Department will match this commitment with funding for the other half of the position so that we will now have a full-time person coordinating the various activities of the BQA program. Jackie Owens was recently selected from our current University of Idaho graduates to be our new BQA coordinator.

Jackie is enthusiastic and is 100 percent devoted to beef industry. She was raised on a cattle ranch near Baker City, Oregon and she definitely demonstrates the strong work ethic that she learned growing up on the ranch. Jackie has been a leader in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and she has distinguished herself as powerful advocate for the beef industry. She was recently recognized as our Outstanding Animal Science Student for 2010 and was also the runner-up for the University of Idaho Outstanding Student Employee Award. I am absolutely confident that Jackie will carry our BQA program to a new level.
