Audrey Harris, manager of the Lab Animal Research Facility, has been named Technician Branch Representative of the Year by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science. The award includes a $2,000 honorarium.

This award recognizes one individual each year for his or her accomplishment and contribution to the promotion of laboratory animal care. Harris received the award for her work at the University of Idaho, Washington State University and the Northern Rocky Mountain Branch of AALAS.

“She has, without fail, shown complete dedication to her job by providing exemplary care for the research and teaching animals in her charge and by improving the work place and professional lives of her co-workers,” wrote a former supervisor.

This award promotes the laboratory animal technician as an integral member of a research team and encourages continuing education, according to the AALAS.
