Gorman Helps USDA Forest Products Lab Celebrate Centennial
Friday, June 25 2010
Tom Gorman, professor of forest products, participated in the June 23 Centennial Celebration of the USDA Forest Products Laboratory (FPL) in Madison, Wis. The laboratory was initiated by Gifford Pinchot in 1910 and Gorman has an active project underway at the facility. As part of FPL's 100th anniversary activities, Tom Tidwell, chief of the U.S. Forest Service, and Ann Bartuska, deputy chief for research and development, helped with the dedication of a new, $34 million research laboratory. During the open house tours, FPL showcased Gorman's research on connections for structural logs that create markets for beetle-killed pines in the West.
