CDHD Sponsors Open House for Artwalk
Friday, June 15 2012 at 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Each year the Center for Disabilities and Human Development participates in ArtWalk, a month-long community art event. The gallery of art created by local artists is displayed throughout the Center. To celebrate the opening of the event, an open house is held for the artists, their families, friends, and community members, which draws over 100 participants annually. This year 31 artists displayed 46 pieces of art during the event. The open house will be held this year on Friday, June 15, from 4 - 6 p.m. The art will be on display through July 6, 2012.
“Staff and faculty have enjoyed bringing ArtWalk to the Center,” says Julie Fodor, CDHD Director. “In the last eight years, CDHD has accepted, matted and framed 361 pieces of art. It has become an opportunity for us to give back to the community.”
Fourteen entries are chosen each year to represent the Artwalk gallery in the CDHD annual calendar A Walk with Art: Celebrating the Creative Spirit of Persons with Disabilities. The cost of the calendar is $10 and can be ordered through the CDHD.
