4-H Youth Development

4-H prepares young people to step up to the challenges in their community and the world. Positive youth development programs give 4-H youth the hands-on, real world experience they need to become leaders.

University of Idaho Extension 4-H Youth Development reaches every county in Idaho. With more than 36,000 members and 4,000 volunteers statewide, 4-H helps youths move Idaho, America and the world forward in ways that no other youth organization can.

Membership

4-H is open to all youth between the ages of 8 and 18 years. Youth between the ages of 5-7 can participate in Cloverbuds, a non-competitive version of 4-H.

Enrollment

Enrollment in ZSuite is required once per year. ZSuite Enrollment Instructions:

  • Go to https://4h.zsuite.org/ to create a family account or update an existing one
  • Add your child as a "household member"
  • Fill out the personal info, insurance and waivers (year is 2024)
  • Add them to a relevant club
  • Add them to a relevant project
  • Press Submit

Once your $15 yearly enrollment fee has been paid at the office, an office member will activate your account.

Enrollment fees:

  • Traditional 4-H — $15
  • Horse 4-H — $15
  • Working Ranch 4-H — $15

Other costs may vary by the project or activity.

Classes

Bear Lake County 4-H/FFA 2024 Weigh-in Dates

  • Livestock breeding projects must be declared by May 15
  • Steer — Tuesday, March 26, 4-5 p.m. at the stockyards
  • Swine — Thursday, May 9, 5-6 p.m. at the fairgrounds
  • Lamb and Goat — Thursday, June 13, 5-6 p.m. at the fairgrounds

4-H Bear Lake Youth Council

4-H youth born in 2011 or later are invited to join the Bear Lake Youth Council. Monthly meetings will begin in March. Youth will learn leadership skills, organize 4-H activities, mentor younger youth and have fun. March, April and May meetings will be an introduction to the council and a presidency will be established in May. The presidency will lead the youth council for the summer 2024 and the 2024-2025 school year. Sign up for the council activities using our class registration.
