The 2017 Homecoming theme is Under the Big Top. Homecoming is a week-long event focused on the traditions of the University of Idaho and honoring the passion and excitement of alumni as they return to their alma mater. Visit this page often for updates.

Sunday, Oct. 1

Where: Meet at the VandalStore Plaza

Join fellow Vandals (alumni welcome) for a photo scavenger hunt. Bond with your team and a test of your campus knowledge while you familiarize yourself with UI and Homecoming traditions.

Where: Pitman Center International Ballroom

Bring your group’s loudest and most creative cheers, because the decibels and the creativity matter in Yell Like Hell. Let the masses know who your team is and that YOU are ready for Homecoming 2017. After the competition find out what seniors will by vying for the top spots of Homecoming royalty.

Monday, Oct. 2

Where: TLC Lounge

68 years of Vandals saving lives. Sign up for a spot so you don’t have to wait. They even give you a cookie once you are done.

Where: Main Street Moscow

Vandal pride is on display in this event. Collaborate as a team and come up with the best window decorating to get top points. Have fun with other teams as Moscow downtown businesses get painted in the spirit of Homecoming 2017.

Meet your team at Friendship Square to disperse explanations of the food drive and bags throughtout the Moscow community. Team will pick up the full bags later in the week.

Tuesday, Oct. 3

Where: Various campus locations

Faculty and staff have spirit too! Did you ask your professor how they are celebrating Homecoming? Check out various campus offices to see their Vandal pride. The Dean of Students Office, the Admissions Office, and the Student Involvement’s Office have all won best decoration in the past. Winners will be announced at the Annual Faculty Staff Alumni Luncheon.

Calling all actors, singers, and directors! Vandal Jingles are skits to promote Vandal Pride, the Homecoming theme, and fun.

Teams who wish to participate in the Vandal Jingles event must have at least 6 people and attend the team meeting at 8 p.m. on Sept. 28 in TLC 022.

Thursday, Oct. 5

Where: Drop-off at the VandalStore

Remember all those houses you delivered bags and instructions to on Monday? It’s now time for your team to revisit those homes and collect any items they donated.

Celebrate 75 years of Fish & Wildlife Sciences at the University of Idaho and enjoy a variety of films highlighting nature.

Kenworthy Theatre
6 p.m. Doors open
6:30 p.m. Show begins

Admission is free. Raffle prizes available.

Films span a broad array of subjects, in the following categories:

  • Animal behavior and ecology 
  • Habitats and ecosystems 
  • Science and research 
  • Wildlife-human connections 
  • "Wild Side" submissions (fun, creative, and unusual formats such as music videos)

The Homecoming Competition is in full swing with competing teams decorating their living groups according to theme. Groups can also submit a banner to be hung in the commons. Judges will score based on adherence to theme, creativity, Vandal pride, originality and overall appearance.

Join us as the Sounds of Idaho Marching Band leads students, faculty, staff and alumni through campus to the annual Homecoming Bonfire. Snake along Old Greek and New Greek Row, the VandalStore, along Sixth Street, through the residence halls and up to the Kibbie Dome parking lot. Gather outside living groups on campus and join the fun!

Come celebrate Vandal Pride as we hear from coaches and athletes. Homecoming Royalty Court will be announced.

Immediately following the bonfire, we will have a Homecoming fireworks show sponsored by Latah Federal Credit Union. Join us in celebrating the University of Idaho!

TowerLights presented by the Association of Computing Machinery

Enjoy an LED light show synchronized with music as produced by students in Association of Computing Machinery.

Saturday, Oct. 7

The Farmers Market is a popular Moscow tradition that was established in 1977. The Saturday morning event celebrates local farmers, artists, craftspeople and musicians by providing them with an opportunity to interact directly with the community and its visitors. Highlights include fresh produce, meat, delicious homemade baked goods, healthy nursery plants, beautiful flowers and quality handmade crafts.

Where: Main Street, Downtown Moscow 

Show Moscow why your team deserves the Homecoming gold as you march your way toward the podium. The 109th Annual Best-Western Plus University Inn Homecoming Parade will travel main street led by Grand Marshals TBA.

Come watch the Vandal football team as they take on Louisiana-Lafayette in the Kibbie Dome for the Homecoming football game!
