Audition Schedule

Audition Schedule:

Scholarship Audition:
Friday, February 20, 2015
1:30 - 4:00 PM
Other audition dates by appointment only.

Students must complete an audition form with their selected date. A detailed schedule will be sent prior to the audition.

Technique Class:

Your audition for the department will consist of participation in an intermediate/advanced technique class in both ballet and modern, taught by the UI-Dance faculty and attended by other dance majors and minors. Wear a leotard and tights or other form-fitting clothes with appropriate footwear, as needed.

Solo Performance: (*scholarship applicants ONLY)

Prepare a 2-4 minute dance solo demonstrating a wide range of your dance technique and artistry influenced by the idioms of ballet, modern, jazz, and/or contemporary dance. Technical prowess, presence, musicality, expression and performance quality will be evaluated to determine scholarships.
  • Bring music on CD, iPod, iPad, phone, or computer

Interview: (*scholarship applicants ONLY)

Bring a photo of yourself (head shot or action) to your interview with faculty. Professional headshots are not required. Be prepared to discuss the information on your audition form and your interest in becoming a dance major at the University of Idaho. This is also a chance to get to know the faculty and ask any questions about the program.

Dance majors are eligible to audition for available scholarships, which are awarded based on merit and need of the applicant. Dance minors are not eligible for program scholarships. Scholarship applicants must attend a placement audition, perform a 2-4 minute solo, and interview with faculty. Additionally, Department of Movement Sciences’ scholarships may be applied for annually by returning dance majors.
