The Department of Movement Sciences is the only place on campus where you can study physical activity and play for a healthy, productive, and sustainable lifestyle. Our approach to activity and play is interdisciplinary and involves all of you – your whole being – permeating your study, your work, and your leisure time. We want to inspire you to develop a healthier you through play and to learn how to take a playful and active spirit to your family, your workplace, and your community.
We promote healthy active living though our undergraduate programs in dance, exercise science & health, physical education teacher education, and recreation. All of our undergraduate students begin their study in our Core Curriculum to learn a multidisciplinary and holistic approach to healthy active living. At the graduate level, our students can choose to study recreation, exercise science, sport pedagogy & character education, or athletic training, where they work side-by-side with nationally and internationally renowned faculty to impact the health of our society through research and community engagement.
