First-Year Students

Advising at the University of Idaho is a lot different than what you experienced at Vandal Friday or when you were registering as a high school student. Your advisor is one of the only consistent points of contact you’ll have during your Vandal career, and we want to make sure your advising experience helps you progress toward your degree and enriches your academic experience. Please use the links on the left to learn about advising at the University of Idaho.

Important Reminders For First Year Students

  • You only have the first two weeks of class to drop a class without receiving a W (withdraw). Click here for the consequences of withdrawing.
  • Before registration for next semester you must see your advisor and get your advisor hold removed. You will not be allowed to register for classes without your advisor’s approval. Make an appointment at least two weeks before registration.
