Registration Closes Soon for the Inland Northwest Genomics Research Symposium
May 09, 2016
Genomics scientists from across the region will come together Thursday, May 19, for the Inland Northwest Genomics Research Symposium.
Hosted by The Institute for Bioinformatics and Evolutionary Studies, this annual event creates opportunities for participants to learn about emerging technologies, build collaborations with other researchers, and learn from experienced speakers.
The symposium features keynote speaker Megan Dennis from the University of California, Davis. Dennis’s lab uses cutting-edge genomic technologies to study neurological traits and diseases. Her keynote address will cover sequencing strategies to better understand neurodevelopmental disorders like autism, schizophrenia and epilepsy.
Other speakers include Ylva Lekberg from the University of Montana, Phil Bregitzer from the USDA-Agriculture Research Service, Christine Parent from the University of Idaho, and Michael Varnum from Washington State University. Vendors will also be on site, and include Illumina, Bio-Rad Laboratories, Qiagen, and Roche Diagnostics.
A poster session will feature research being done on the University of Idaho campus, as well as across the Inland Northwest. Illumina will provide four $100 gift certificates to Amazon to the top ranked posters, as determined by a panel of judges.
Registration for the symposium is free, and closes on Thursday, May 12. Visit ibest.uidaho.edu for more information about the Inland Northwest Genomics Research Symposium.
