Hello, my name is Jill Kellogg-Serna. I’m the Director of Study Abroad & Exchange Programs at the University of Idaho. I’m originally from Nampa, Idaho and am a UI alumna. As a UI student studying Psychology and Spanish, I studied abroad with USAC (University Studies Abroad Consortium) in San Sebastian for a semester. This was my first experience abroad (except for Canada), so I can relate to many UI students who haven’t been abroad before. This experience gave me the travel bug and made me realize my passion for learning languages and about other cultures. After graduating from the UI, I went to work for a French vacation company, Club Med, hoping to be stationed abroad. I was sent to Florida but worked with people from all over the world and improved the French language I had started learning as a part of my Spanish degree at the UI. Next I went to France to nanny for 9 months then made it back to the Basque Country in Spain, Bilbao this time, to nanny and teach English for a year. I also met my husband while living in Bilbao. We moved back to the U.S. in 2000, and I started searching for a job within International Education as I couldn’t wait to get more U.S. students out into the world, having the kinds of experiences that had changed my life when I went abroad. I started working in the UI Study Abroad Office in 2001 and have been here ever since. Through work and personal travel I’ve been to Chile, China, Czech Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, The Netherlands, and Thailand. My husband and I have a toddler so in my free time I love spending time with them, doing yoga, trying new foods, meeting new people from all over the world and traveling and learning as much from that as I can.

Hi there! My name is Jean Wenner and I am the Study Abroad and Exchange Student Enrollment Specialist for the International Programs Office. I grew up in Pennsylvania mostly, and completed my bachelor’s degree in Ohio at Bowling Green State University where I majored in Interpersonal Communications with a focus on Intercultural Communications and Spanish. During this time, I studied abroad in Alcala de Henares, Spain for a semester. It was the most amazing time learning Spanish and eating tapas. Because of this experience, my career goals were hatched. I went on to graduate school for Student Affairs in Higher Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, PA where I graduated with my Master’s degree. I also completed a short-term program during this time to the United Kingdom, from St. Andrews University to Cambridge meeting with administrators to discuss higher education at seven different “unis.” I have also had amazing experiences in Ireland, Austria, Germany and most recently Costa Rica. I hope to travel to Asia and South America in the future. I hope that through my position at University of Idaho that I can encourage others to pursue similar experiences and to look at the world with an open mind. In my free time, you will find me sipping coffee or hanging out with friends.

I work with all non-University of Idaho students that study abroad through the UI in order to receive academic credit for their study abroad programs. I also work with UI students in a lesser capacity by assisting with Post-Application processes. I am happy to answer any questions regarding admission's to the UI  (for both non-degree and degree seeking students), registration, financial aid and transcripts. The main programs that I work with include the Universities Study Abroad Consortium (USAC) and the KCP Japanese Language Institute.
