Jill Kellogg-Serna
Director, Study Abroad & Exchange Programs

Hello, my name is Jill Kellogg-Serna. I’m the Director of Study Abroad & Exchange Programs at the University of Idaho. I’m originally from Nampa, Idaho and am a UI alumna. As a UI student studying Psychology and Spanish, I studied abroad with USAC (University Studies Abroad Consortium) in San Sebastian for a semester. This was my first experience abroad (except for Canada), so I can relate to many UI students who haven’t been abroad before. This experience gave me the travel bug and made me realize my passion for learning languages and about other cultures. After graduating from the UI, I went to work for a French vacation company, Club Med, hoping to be stationed abroad. I was sent to Florida but worked with people from all over the world and improved the French language I had started learning as a part of my Spanish degree at the UI. Next I went to France to nanny for 9 months then made it back to the Basque Country in Spain, Bilbao this time, to nanny and teach English for a year. I also met my husband while living in Bilbao. We moved back to the U.S. in 2000, and I started searching for a job within International Education as I couldn’t wait to get more U.S. students out into the world, having the kinds of experiences that had changed my life when I went abroad. I started working in the UI Study Abroad Office in 2001 and have been here ever since. Through work and personal travel I’ve been to Chile, China, Czech Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, The Netherlands, and Thailand. My husband and I have a toddler so in my free time I love spending time with them, doing yoga, trying new foods, meeting new people from all over the world and traveling and learning as much from that as I can.

Hi there! My name is Jean Wenner and I am the Study Abroad and Outreach Coordinator for the International Programs Office. I grew up in Pennsylvania and completed my bachelor’s degree in Ohio at Bowling Green State University where I majored in Interpersonal Communications with a focus on Intercultural Communications and Spanish. During this time, I studied abroad in Alcala de Henares, Spain for a semester. It was the most amazing time learning Spanish and eating tapas. Because of this experience, my career goals were hatched. To pursue my goal of working in international education, I went on to study Student Affairs in Higher Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, PA where I graduated with my Master’s degree. During this time, I participated in a short-term program to the United Kingdom. We met with administrators at seven different “unis” to discuss higher education in the United Kingdom. I have also had amazing experiences in Ireland, Austria, Germany, and most recently Costa Rica. Asia and South America are on my list of “must-see” destinations. I hope that through my position at University of Idaho that I can encourage others to pursue similar experiences and to look at the world with an open mind. I truly believe this will make our world a better place in which to live.

Hello. My name is Alison Scheide and I am a Study Abroad Specialist at the University of Idaho. I have a bachelors degree in History from Alma College, located in Alma, Michigan. I also have a Masters degree in Higher Education and Student Personnel from the University of Mississippi, affectionately known as "Ole Miss." While at Ole Miss I worked in student housing with incoming Exchange students. This is where I discovered my love for all things related to international education and study abroad. While I never studied abroad in my undergraduate career I was lucky to have the opportunity to intern with the University of Essex in the summer of 2014. Additionally, I have traveled to Europe several times to visit family members that live in Germany. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, cooking, and planning future travels.
