Culture Kits

Culture Kits

A culture kit is a collection of materials that represents both traditional and modern aspects of a culture. Kits include items such as clothing, maps, stamps, coins, small flags, art objects, crafts, games, dolls, toys, photos, etc. The items in each kit are meant to be touched and used. The kits are designed to provide a hands-on educational experience, and support the International Baccalaureate program.

Anyone in the area can borrow kits for free for up to six weeks. University of Idaho students may borrow kits for free for up to three weeks for presentations on and off campus. An agreement to replace or pay for missing or broken items is signed at check out.

Click here to see a list of the countries represented in the collection or visit the Request Form to reserve a kit. As soon as your request is received, you will receive an email letting you know if the kit is available within the requested period. Borrowers who are unable to pick up kits from the University can have them sent via UPS or USPS within the state of Idaho. Shipping costs are the responsibility of the borrower.

If you are an international student who got invited to speak at a grade school about your country, consider borrowing a kit to help in your presentation. If you have historic or contemporary items from one of the listed countries that you would like to donate to this program, we welcome your contribution.
