Office of Information Technology (OIT) Leadership

The Office of Information Technology includes five departments and functions directly reporting to the Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer Dan Ewart. These units include more than 70 staff and 25 student employees committed to delivering friendly, timely and customer-focused service and collaborative technological solutions. The OIT leadership group meets regularly to discuss IT strategies, projects and issues.

Dan Ewart

Working closely with the rest of the University of Idaho's executive team, a wide-ranging customer base and the OIT staff, Dan helps identify, lead and execute OIT technical strategies that move the university forward in achieving its goals and strategic initiatives.

The executive assistant provides daily and comprehensive multi-leveled administrative services and support to the entire OIT organization including the VP of IT/CIO.

University of Idaho is committed to providing an environment that protects the privacy and security of information and electronic resources necessary to support our mission of teaching, learning and research. OIT's Information Security Officer provides policy and security oversight for institutional information and technology resources, providing a structured approach to information risk management for the campus. 

IT Applications and Data

Senior Director, Kali Armitage

IT Applications and Data supports the key administrative computing systems for the University of Idaho. These systems include Ellucian Banner ERP, MyUI, VandalWeb, uidaho.edu and many other applications that serve departments across the university. Enterprise Application’s focus is on providing outstanding customer support, maximizing the end user experience and assisting colleges and departments to identify the appropriate technology solution for real business problems, with the goal of increasing overall productivity and efficiency. Some of the services provided by IT Applications and Data include: technical and functional application analysis and support, application development, application/data integrations, database management, project and product management and consulting. 

Technology Solution Partners

Director, Tom English

Technology Solution Partners provide enterprise support solutions to the University of Idaho employees and students across the state. TSPs coordinate with customers to better understand their technology needs to provide guidance and support for university partners. Student and Technology Operations Support

Director, Darren Kearney

The Student Technology Center supports all students across the state from helping with access to student resources to connecting personal devices to the university network in residence halls. Operation Support staff process all technology purchase requests, configure computers, maintain phones, produce VandalCards plus many other tasks.

IT Planning and Initiatives

Director, Teresa Amos

Leads and facilitates process improvement efforts, efficiency efforts and improvements in policy, standards and procedures, service management and related systems and grant funding in support of the goals of the university and OIT.

Develop and maintain, the university’s enterprise service management systems and other key initiatives and the associated technology support process, to provide outstanding customer service and track the efficiency and performance of technology support by developing support metrics and standards for service excellence and will act as a liaison between various groups to build a cohesive environment for feedback.

Academic Technology

Director, Cass Hall

The Academic Technology Office prioritizes education and advances the University’s academic mission by empowering educators with transformative technologies and training to enhance teaching and learning of in-person, hybrid and online modalities. This office includes Collaboration and Classroom Technology Services which is responsible for design, development, installation, testing, maintenance and support of audiovisual technology in over 100 general university classrooms and provides secondary support for over 80 departmental spaces.
