Building Services Efforts

The Building Services Department has implemented programs to minimize the use of janitorial chemicals across campus, and to reduce the energy used during the cleaning process.

• Detergents and other janitorial chemicals are dispensed to cleaning teams each day in packets just sufficient for their assignments.

 

• The University uses a Team Cleaning strategy that sends a team to specific areas to perform all janitorial tasks at one time, which is designed to minimize after hour use of building lighting, heating and cooling.

 

• All paper towels use at the University have high recycled content paper.

 

• The University currently has an experimental program being implemented at all gym and recreation facilities to replace all cleaners, sanitizers, and waxes with certified Green-seal, biodegradable products. If this program proves successful, all buildings will be switched to Green-seal janitorial products.
