About the University Honors Program

The University of Idaho Honors Program (UHP) is a vibrant, intellectual and social community.

The UHP emphasizes classroom learning experiences and opportunities for undergraduate research, which enable students to work with professors one-on-one.

The UHP also offers leadership experiences, service opportunities and diverse extracurricular activities, as part of a commitment to the whole person. Students are urged to develop and explore all their abilities and passions, as well as seek new challenges and opportunities.

The current UHP student membership averages more than 470 students (including 150 first-year students).

The University of Idaho Honors Program is a community of fascinating and diverse individuals that will become your family just like they became mine. It’s not a place to blend in or add another line to your resume, but a place to find out who you really are and challenge what you thought you were capable of in all aspects of your life. Every day, I am inspired, awed, humbled and amazed by the talent of every student in the program, and I am encouraged to push the boundaries in my field, and dream even bigger than before.
