Examplify and Laptop Information

The University of Idaho College of Law does not require students to purchase laptops. However, it is strongly recommended that you have a laptop computer.

The College of Law uses test taking software called Examplify for many of the exams and quizzes you will take. When purchasing a laptop, it is important that you purchase a computer that meets the minimum requirements to run the test taking software.

The College of Law supports Windows and Mac OSX computers. Chromebooks, iPads and other similar devices are not recommended as a sole computing device.

Laptops & Examplify Requirements

While laptops are not required by the College of Law, they are strongly recommended. If you would like to purchase a laptop but are unsure what to buy, the University of Idaho has a partnership with Lenovo, and we have created a storefront with some recommended options for laptop computers. In addition to granting discounts through the University of Idaho storefront, these computers should meet your needs as a student at the College of Law and be suitable machines for taking exams. However, be sure to review the Examplify minimum system requirements before making your purchase to ensure the computer you are buying will work with the exam software. If you have any questions regarding laptop purchases, you can reach out to LawTech.

Lenovo - College of Law Laptop Recommendations

When purchasing a laptop for use in law school, it is important that your computer is at least powerful enough to run the test taking software utilized by the College of Law. The link below points to the Minimum System Requirements page for the Examplify test taking software. When choosing a computer, these are the bare minimum specification your computer should meet. Be aware that while this page details requirements for many devices, the College of Law only utilizes and supports devices full Windows and MacOS operating systems. Tablets, Chromebooks, and any other device is not approved or supported for exams.
