Centrocoris volxemi—A Newly Introduced Idaho Insect

BUL1037

November 1, 2022

Centrocoris volxemi is an introduced non-native true bug (insects with piercing-sucking mouthparts) that has been expanding its known range in the United States since 2020 and Idaho the year after. Researchers expect its dispersion throughout the Intermountain West to increase since the region abounds in prickly Russian thistle, a host plant. Learn how to identify the nuisance home-invading insect (aided by full-color photographs); about its life cycle and management; and remember not to crush one (like stink bugs, they release unpleasant smells).
