Project Topics
Animal Health
- Small Animals. Kids learn how to properly care for their animals and learn how to present their animals in public settings. Many 4-H members in Ada County complete projects with dogs, cats, chickens, guinea pigs (also known as cavies), rabbits, pygmy goats, hedgehogs and more. Small animals is one of our fastest growing project areas.
- Livestock. Kids learn to properly care for their animals and present their animals in public. Here in Ada County, livestock includes steers, dairy heifers, sheep, goats, llamas and alpacas. We have many active members in 4-H livestock projects.
- Horse. Kids learn to properly care for their animals and present their animals in public. Horse is one of our most in-demand programs, whether youth work with mini horses, build riding skills or train wild mustangs through our partnership with BLM.
