Attending a conference? Family obligation? Out sick? Don't cancel your class. U of I faculty can schedule a workshop for their students during scheduled class time. Available workshops are listed below. The “Don’t Cancel Your Class” program is a collaborative effort between the Division of Student Affairs and the Equity and Diversity Unit.

Available Workshops
QPR stands for Question, Persuade and Refer. It is an evidenced-based, program to help faculty, staff and students respond to someone in a mental health crisis and thinking about suicide. Participants will learn how to: Recognize the warning signs of suicide, offer hope, get help and save a life. 60 minutes, all class sizes.
Everyone faces adversity, but it is how we respond to those tough times that counts! In this strengths-based workshop, participants are encouraged to think about their sources of strength, including who or what they can turn to for support when times get tough. This workshop lasts 45-60 minutes, all class sizes.
I Got Your Back is an alcohol bystander intervention program designed to help students recognize the signs of acute alcohol poisoning, practice how to intervene and help look out for each other. 45-60 minutes, all class sizes
Speakers Bureau is a panel presentation composed of students who identify as LGBTQA. Students work to educate various audiences on the experiences and issues related to being an LGBTQA person in a heterosexist society. 50-60 minutes, all class sizes. *Please allow one week notice
In this introduction to LGBTQA identities, we explore what it means to be LGBTQA, the basics of sexual and gender identities, the coming out process, and how to be an advocate for the LGBTQA community. 50-60 minutes, all class sizes.
Develop and implement campus-wide strategies to reduce all hate crimes. Acquire social justice tools for recognizing, preventing, and combating acts of bias and hate on campus. *Please allow one week notice
In this presentation, we will go over the basics of a CARE report: what the report is, where it goes, and when to fill it out. We will explain what happens when you fill out the CARE report, from who will reach out to how we may follow up with you and why it important to utilize the CARE network. There will be time to answer any questions participants have. 60 minutes, all class sizes.
