Vandal Spirit Squad FAQ
The Vandal Spirit Squad is "the face of University of Idaho” and consists of the Co-ed Cheer Team, the Vandal Gems and Joe Vandal. All three entities work together as one unit for game days, events and performances. The Spirit Squad truly bleeds Silver and Gold because they want to provide the best experience they can for Vandal fans.

Common Questions
Teams practice three times a week for two to three hours a week, with scheduled games, weightlifting sessions and events. Band class is also required for first-year members in the fall semester. This class has traditionally been scheduled MWF from 12:30- 1:20 p.m.
We have merit-based scholarships, band class scholarships and select scholarships awarded throughout the school year. When considering who to award, the coach looks at skill level, attitude, GPA, leadership and availability for extra events outside the regular schedule.
The Vandal Gems Dance Team: 12 - 16 members.
The Vandal Cheer Team: 18 - 30 members.
Each member must also pay a membership fee of $600.
Fees will open July 1 and will need to be paid by the first summer practice to be eligible to participate.
Each member is expected to fundraise between $250-$500 by the end of the season. These funds can be raised in multiple different ways: out of pocket payments, donations, calendar sales and/or appearances.
