Undergraduate Programs

Explore your relationship to the natural world by learning about natural resource management, environmental policy-making, environmental communication and education, sustainability initiatives, restoration ecology and more with the Department of Natural Resources and Society (NRS) at the University of Idaho.

NRS offers two undergraduate degree options: the B.S. in Environmental Science and the B.S. in Natural Resources Enterprise Management. For interdisciplinary students seeking primary degrees in other colleges, NRS offers minors in Environmental Communication and Natural Resource Conservation and an undergraduate academic certificate in Remote Sensing of the Environment.

Regardless of if you are pursuing a CNR major, minor or certificate, we encourage all students to grow an interdisciplinary approach to human-environment interactions through our courses, many of which are cross-listed in other departments and programs such as Environmental Science, Forestry, Economics and Political Science. 

Throughout these courses, you’ll have hands-on, immersive learning experiences in University of Idaho’s outdoor classrooms. With 32 million acres of public land, including rugged mountain ranges, arid rangelands and North America's deepest river gorge (Hells Canyon), the state of Idaho is a unique place to study the relationship between natural resources and society.
