Philosophy

Philosophy is the love of wisdom: it is the study of the fundamental aspects of human nature and human experience. Philosophers study both what we know about ourselves and our experience and the reasons we can give for this knowledge. Its primary method is critical reasoning, so students of philosophy become excellent at thinking not just about the what of the world but also its whys. Our department has experts in the philosophical fields of ethics, logic, the philosophy of science, epistemology, the philosophy of language and political philosophy.
