Program Description

University of Idaho Coeur d’Alene Student Ambassadors strive to create a dynamic and inclusive community. Ambassadors serve as a bridge between prospective students and enrollment while inspiring a sense of belonging and academic excellence among current students, ensuring that every student feels valued and supported on their educational journey.

Recruitment: Ambassadors plan and sponsor events and programs designed to meet the needs and interests of students at University of Idaho Coeur d’Alene. Ambassadors are recruited on a yearly or semester basis depending on capacity.

  • Candidates must have completed at least 12 credits while enrolled at University of Idaho Coeur d’Alene.
  • Candidates must be enrolled at the University of Idaho Coeur d’Alene at the time of application and plan to be enrolled full-time at the University of Idaho Coeur d’Alene for the next academic year.
  • Strongest candidates will be actively engaged in the University of Idaho Coeur d'Alene community.
  • Candidates must be comfortable communicating with the public.
  • Candidates should have a minimum 2.7 University of Idaho cumulative grade point average.

  • Academic strength: Students who can take on the ambassador responsibilities without affecting their academic standing.
  • Involvement in center activities: We are looking for students who are engaged in the university in some way and who demonstrate a desire to improve the recruitment and retention of students at University of Idaho Coeur d’Alene.
  • Ability to write well as evidenced by the application.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others.
  • Personality: The ability to connect with others. Not every ambassador has the same personality traits and strengths – and that’s okay!
  • Diversity: We are looking for representation across our academic majors, and we consider age/class, race/ethnicity/culture, transfer/high school, resident/non-resident backgrounds as well.

  • March 7 – Applications open
  • March 25 – Applications close
  • April 8 to 13 – Interviews
  • April 19 – Decisions
  • April/May – Four training sessions (Dates TBD)

Ambassador Responsibilities/Compensation

Student ambassadors work 60 hours per semester (4 hours per week) with a semester stipend of $750. Each ambassador will hold a minimum of 2 office hours in U of I space in the DeArmond building. Additional activities include but are not limited to recruitment and retention.

  • Scheduling and conducting class Presentations at NIC
  • UICDA Campus Tours
  • Staffing University of Idaho welcome desk in DeArmond on NIC campus
  • Marketing and social media takeover

  • Coordinating and implementing at least three events per semester (including but not limited to):
    • Semester Start
    • Recurring coffee hours, casual networking events
    • Mid-semester event
    • Holiday or end-of-semester party
  • Outreach to prospective and current students (in coordination with ambassador advisor)
  • Facilitating Student Advisory Group meetings and assisting with setting the agenda for meetings
  • Recruiting future ambassadors
