Scholarships and Aid
The College of Agricultural and Life Sciences offers over 400 scholarships exclusively to CALS students. Students are automatically considered for these scholarships based on their enrollment status, GPA, major and other qualifiers such as financial need.
CALS awarded nearly $1 million in scholarships to current and incoming students each year. More than half of our students receive scholarships. Combined with external scholarships and waivers, our students receive more than $3.5 million in support each year.
Financial Aid
University of Idaho students are awarded more than $100 million in financial aid each year. Financial Aid & Scholarships works with federal and private programs to help students fund their education, including scholarships, grants, loans, work-study or a combination of these programs. Scholarships available, deadline March 29
Recipients must be master's candidates in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, have a minimum GPA of 2.0, and be enrolled full-time, with nine or more credits for graduates, in a degree-seeking graduate program.
Glen and Iris Murray Idaho-Eastern Oregon Seed Association Scholarship
Available to juniors/seniors from all CALS majors. Preference given to students majoring in plant science or crop science.
North Idaho Foundation Seed Association-Sanford Evans Memorial Scholarship
Available to juniors/seniors in CALS. Priority given in the following order: First preference to a student from north Idaho. Second preference to a student from Idaho. Third preference to a student from Washington. Preference shall also be given to students majoring in plant science or agribusiness or to students interested in the seed industry. Other criteria that may be considered include academic achievement and honors/activities at the University of Idaho.
Washington-North Idaho Seed Association Scholarship
Available to sophomores/juniors/seniors from all CALS majors. Preference given to students majoring in plant science or crop science with outstanding academic achievement.
Idaho Bean Dealers Association
Available to juniors/seniors from all CALS majors. Preference given to students attending Twin Falls U of I and majoring in plant science or crop science with outstanding academic achievement.
Available to sophomore, junior or senior in the University of Idaho College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Student must have at least a 2.7 Cumulative U of I GPA and be an Idaho resident. Preference will be given to students whose parents are members of the Idaho Grain Producers Association.
Scholarship is available to full-time University of Idaho students who will be juniors, seniors or graduate students at the time the award is paid. The recipient must be a resident of Idaho. Preference shall be given to students majoring in plant protection, plant science (crop management or crop science), soil science, entomology, agribusiness or range resources. Preference shall be given to students who intend to pursue a career in an area related to plant protection and/or weed control.
Open to full‐time graduate students enrolled in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences who wish to pursue a career in the potato industry. Selection based primarily on merit. Minimum 3.0 GPA. First consideration given to students whose family have been involved in potato farming or have potato industry connection. Second consideration given to students interested in potato‐related graduate research. Financial need shall not be a consideration.
Available to graduate majors within the departments of plant science; entomology, plant pathology and nematology; or soil and water systems. Must be enrolled as a full-time student; preference to graduate research in potatoes or agronomy; first preference will be given to students conducting their research at the Aberdeen, Kimberly or Parma research and extension centers. A summary of research conducted must accompany this application.
