Most Vandals living on campus leave their personal vehicles at home and use alternative transportation to get across campus and town. Our campus and downtown Moscow fit within a two-mile diameter circle, making our community very walkable, bikeable and boardable. Local transit follows CDC guidelines, is free, has several stops on campus and gets you across town in minutes.

Vandals with temporary or permanent mobility-limiting disabilities or conditions can take advantage of our free Vandal Access Service to get wherever you need to go on campus Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. during fall and spring academic sessions.

Getting home on breaks is easy on the CDC-compliant U of I Break Bus or Northwestern Trailways.

If you need to bring a personal vehicle to campus, purchase a Silver or Economy parking permit online in July. We’ll mail your permit to you and you’ll be ready when you arrive.

For all transportation and parking information, please visit uidaho.edu/parking and/or reach out to us at parking@uidaho.edu or 208-885-6424.

Need help deciding what to bring your first year at the University of Idaho? Check out our recommended packing list.

English: Recommended Packing List

Español: Lista de empaque

☐ Refrigerator and microwave (all rooms come equipped with both)
☐ Heaters, candles, and incense
☐ Any open coil/open flame appliances (toaster ovens, hotplates, George Foreman Grills etc.)
☐ Pets (except fish in a 10 gallon or less tank)
☐ Firearms, BB guns, Paintball Guns, Fireworks, Martial Arts Weapons, Etc.
☐ Wireless or wired router (all rooms come equipped with a hardwire point and have access to the campus wifi)
☐ For a complete list of items that are prohibited, check the residence hall handbook.

A Vandal Card, the official student ID, is required to check into your residence hall and use your meal plan. Order your Vandal Card on-line and submit your own photo before you arrive to campus!

Cards typically take 2-3 days to ship so we recommend you order your card at least two weeks before your arrival. You must have your Vandal Card with you in order to check into your room.

Due to COVID-19 we are limiting the number of volunteers we have on site in order to help prevent the potential spread to our newly arriving student population. As a result we are only allowing Faculty and Staff. If you are interested in volunteering please email Nicolas Cress at ncress@uidaho.edu.

We look forward to being able to have our volunteers back in full force for 2021!
