Partner Organizations

The Children's Center works with the following organizations to provide support to families on the Palouse.

National Association for the Education of Young Children(NAEYC)

NAEYC is the leading membership association for those working with and on behalf of children from birth through age 8. NAEYC convenes thought leaders, teachers and other practitioners, researchers, and other stakeholders and sets standards of excellence for programs and teachers in early childhood education. NAEYC members include teachers, paraeducators, center directors, trainers, college educators, families of young children and the public at large. Membership is open to all individuals who share a desire to serve and act on behalf of the needs and rights of all young children.

IdahoSTARS

IdahoSTARS is a joint project between the University of Idaho's Center on Disabilities and Human Development (CDHD) and the Idaho Association for the Education of Young Children (Idaho AEYC). The project is funded by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (DHW) and a Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG). IdahoSTARS services are being directed by staff members in seven regional offices and at the IdahoSTARS office at the University of Idaho in Moscow.

ICCP Idaho Child Care Program

The Idaho Child Care Program (ICCP) provides child care assistance to low-income, working families by paying for a portion of child care. This program is for parents who work, attend school, or participate in approved activities to help prevent children from being placed in foster care. The program pays for part of the child care costs for eligible households, and parents also pay for a portion (called a co-pay). The parent’s share is based on the size of the family and the amount of their income. The Department also licenses child care providers and is working with community partners on a professional development system to improve child care services in Idaho.

Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federal program that provides reimbursements for nutritious meals and snacks to eligible children and adults who are enrolled for care at participating child care centers, day care homes, and adult day care centers. CACFP also provides reimbursements for meals served to children and youth participating in afterschool care programs, children residing in emergency shelters, and adults over the age of 60 or living with a disability and enrolled in day care facilities. CACFP contributes to the wellness, healthy growth, and development of young children and adults in the United States.
