C. Scott Green
C. Scott Green’s relationship with the University of Idaho dates back two generations. U of I’s 19th president is an alumnus who grew up running the hallways of Memorial Gym when his grandfather was the head of the Department of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and, eventually, athletic director. Scott went on to build a monumental career in global finance, operations and administration.
Scott will assume leadership of U of I on Monday, July 1, 2019, and is eager to engage all Vandals in the success and tradition that is U of I.
Born in Moscow, Scott’s family moved to Boise when he was in elementary school. A graduate of Boise High School, he always knew he would return to U of I for college. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1984 and immediately began work at Boise Cascade Corporation. Scott later moved to Boston to attend the Harvard Business School, where he earned his Master of Business Administration in 1989 and then began working for Deloitte and Touche LLP in New York. This was the beginning of an international career that would define the next 30 years.
Scott has a long history of running billion-dollar global law firms and brings broad perspective on diversity and international outreach to this position. He is well-versed in shared governance-style decision-making and consensus building.
He was the first non-lawyer to run an American Lawyer 100 law firm, recognized as one of the Top 50 Big Law Innovators of the Last 50 Years by American Lawyer Magazine and was inducted into the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Business and Industry Hall of Fame. He has authored numerous articles and books and had global responsibility for more than 3,000 employees in more than 30 countries.
Scott has served the University of Idaho in several ways over the years, including on the U of I National Alumni Board of Directors, College of Business and Economics Advisory Board and on the U of I Foundation Board. He is also a Vandal Scholarship Fund supporter.
Scott and his wife, Gabriella, an interior designer, have two college-age children: Nicholas and Christina.
