Food Systems and Food Security Grant Opportunities
Tuesday, December 3 2013
The Office of Community Partnerships and the Food and Economic Development Working Group* are seeking partners to pursue funding that supports research, outreach and teaching related to local and regional food systems, economic development, and food security.
We have identified roughly 30 federal and private funding sources that could support ongoing and new initiatives at UI. We have also identified external partners interested in collaborating with us. Our goal is to recruit members of the UI community who would like to join us in developing grant proposals. We’re interested in identifying people with expertise in a variety of topics, including agriculture, business, geography, statistics, education, nutrition, communications, and other related subjects.
A discussion will take place Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, from noon-1:30 p.m. in the Horizons Room in the Commons. We’ll provide coffee and muffins. Feel free to bring your lunch and join the conversation.
We expect this to be the first in a series of meetings on funding to support work on local and regional food systems, economic development, and food security. While we were unable to set up a video link for this meeting, we are committed to involving faculty and others outside Moscow in future meetings. If you aren’t in Moscow, or can’t make this time and date, please tell us so we can share the meeting outcomes and let you know about next steps.
Please share this announcement with faculty, staff, colleagues, and others who may be interested.
