U of I Graduates 1,650 Vandal Alumni in Spring 2020
May 15, 2020
MOSCOW, Idaho — May 15, 2020 — A total of 1,650 University of Idaho students statewide applied for 1,795 degrees for the spring semester, which ended today. The numbers are the largest in the past six years for a spring term.
Spring 2020 graduates will be celebrated during a Summer Commencement Ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, in the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center in Moscow.
The summer ceremony will be held in place of spring ceremonies that were canceled in Moscow, Boise, Coeur d’Alene and Idaho Falls due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19. Social distancing and other protocols will be in place during the August ceremony.
“The Class of 2020 will always hold a special place in the history of our alma mater,” said U of I President Scott Green. “Our spring graduates have demonstrated, given the unforeseen obstacles of this semester, that they can overcome adversity and pivot to new ways of learning. We are proud of our Vandal graduates, and our graduates can be proud that they did it, they graduated from one of the top public universities in the country.”
Spring graduates have the option of taking part in the Aug. 1 ceremony, or in the December 2020 or May 2021 ceremonies.
Each graduate will receive a “Celebration in a Box” in the mail that includes the diploma cover they would have received at this month’s ceremony, as well as an event program and other Vandal-themed gear.
