Preferred First Names Can be Used on VandalCards
October 17, 2019
VandalCards can now be issued in a preferred first name other than a legal first name. After recently pausing the service to consider federal and state issues that could impact the use of an identification card, it has been determined that inclusion of a statement on the back of the card is sufficient to allay issues regarding fraud.
The VandalCard is the official University of Idaho identification card for students, staff, faculty and affiliated persons. The card is used for accessing buildings and facilities, student computing labs and events, dining plans, the Student Health Center and the library. It is also required to obtain a financial aid check. A VandalCard is valid as long as you are an active student or employee.
ITS is committed to providing technology solutions and assistance to the entire U of I community. Learn more about the VandalCard. Contact Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer Daniel Ewart at email@example.com or 208-885-2271 with questions.
