Presidential Research Fund on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Proposals Are Funded

Proposals were selected for funding through a collaboration between the President’s Office, Provost’s Office and the Office of Research and Economic Development. The program was intended to seed new research and creative activity in issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion, especially in relation to the University of Idaho, its community and its history. In this competition, a total of $20,485 in funding was awarded. Recipients were selected from a competitive field of submissions.

Recipients and funded projects include:

  • Robert Caisley, chair of Theatre Arts, professor of Theatre, head of Dramatic Writing, College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences;
  • Rebecca Scofield, assistant professor, History, CLASS, “Voices of Gay Rodeo,” $8,000;
  • Sydney Freeman Jr., associate professor, Leadership and Counseling, College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, “The Contributions of Blacks to the University of Idaho,” $9,485;
  • Marco Seiferle-Valencia, assistant professor, Curriculum and Instruction, library; and
  • Rebekka Boysen-Taylor, doctoral student, Curriculum and Instruction, CEHHS, “Highlighting Hidden Histories of Idaho,” $3,000.
