Vandals Dining Partners with Swipe Out Hunger
December 07, 2020
Vandals Dining at the University of Idaho is in partnership with Swipe Out Hunger, a national nonprofit committed to ending college student hunger. For each student meal plan sold per semester, Vandals Dining will contribute one additional meal to be gifted to impoverished members of the Vandal community. Meal allotment is based on an individual basis and will be reassessed.
Nathan Underwood-Schuchman, Vandals Dining general manager, is proud to bring this initiative to campus.
“Suffering from food scarcity is a disheartening reality for so many. It is imperative we do our part to eliminate student and community hunger not just at the University of Idaho, but nationally,” said Underwood-Schuchman. “Bringing this program to campus is the first of many positive steps to accomplish this goal.”
The Swipe Out Hunger national movement spans more than 120 colleges and has served more than two million nutritious meals to date. Those who find themselves food insecure, or know of someone who is, can complete a VandalCARE Report online to connect with a VandalCARE team representative and take the first steps to receiving assistance.
