ORED Announces Adjustments in Leadership Team
July 27, 2018
The Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) is pleased to announce two changes to its leadership team.
Glen Downing, recently hired as director for the Office of Research Assurances, has advanced to director of research operations and strategic initiatives. Downing will help ORED achieve its mission and goals by managing high-level strategic projects and change initiatives within the division. He has the broad responsibility of managing ORED's internal operations and strategy, serving as a lead thought partner for Vice President Janet E. Nelson, as well as liaison between Nelson and many of ORED's constituents. These constituents include all levels of administrative leadership, faculty and staff, as well as state and federal officials. He has broad level authority to represent the vice president with these constituents to address issues of importance in an expeditious and diplomatic manner.
Audrey Harris, who served as interim director of the Office of Research Assurances (ORA) before taking a brief hiatus, has been reinstated as ORA director. Harris is the research compliance officer for the university, serving as the focal point for research compliance activities, as well as administrative functions for the office. Harris leads ORA's efforts to monitor research compliance laws and regulations; develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance; monitor and audit research projects and facilities; serve on compliance oversight committees; and ensure an environment of compliance through training and program development.
Please join ORED in congratulating and welcoming Audrey and Glen in these new roles.
